Thunder Valley Rally rolls into Cottonwood

Rumble back into Cottonwood and rock it in the park for the 2018 Thunder Valley Rally.

Cottonwood, the Bootlegging Capital of Arizona, knows how to throw a party — and Thunder Valley Rally is the “kickin’ist” with top entertainment, activities and food to please every palate from September 12 to 15.

Enjoy concerts by national headliners “Jonny Lang” on Friday, Sept. 14, and “Blackfoot” with Rickey Medlocke, formerly with Lynyrd Skynyrd, along with Arizona’s favorite band, “Mogollon” on Saturday, Sept. 15. Other acts include Breakdown (a tom Petty tribute band), South of Winslow (an Eagles tribute band) and Mr. Skynyrd (a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band).

The 2018 rally venues will be filled with merriment, music and motorcycles. Thunder Valley Rally is presented by Law Tigers, Arizona’s Motorcycle Lawyers and will be at The Freedom Bird Entertainment Park and Campground off of North 10th Street with 96 acres of camping, vendors, concerts, beer gardens and events just around the corner from Old Town Cottonwood. New events for 2018 include AZ Roller Derby matches and the Little Biker Program.

Historic Old Town Cottonwood on North Main Street, which has been “Rockin’ it since 1885” will host live music during the day. Old Town is located on Historic State Route 89A and can trace its scenic, traffic moving curves back to the days when it was merely a path through the countryside, serving as a Native American trade route linking Southern Arizona to the northern parts of the state. During several years of the 20 th Century, bootlegging was a big part of Cottonwood’s history.

Don’t miss the epic ride with the “Ride the Vine Poker Run,” by Cottonwood Motorsports, through the Verde Valley’s Wine Country with $2,000 in prize money, and a Miss T.V.R. Pin-up Girl Pageant by Main Stage at 1 S. Main St. Visit www.thundervalleyrallyaz.com for event updates and make your reservations now.

This year’s charities are the Military Service Park Committee, which consist of veterans dedicated to building a local park to honor Verde Valley residents that have served their country, and Verde Valley Fallen Heroes in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The intent of the rally is to support local businesses, define the Verde Valley as a destination, and to showcase the attractions the Verde Valley has to offer. Don’t forget to check out the Kickstand Campground at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds, the Main Stage After Party, and Dead Horse State Park.
