The pack is back! Bigger and better than ever thanks to the expert “biker” guidance of Quick Throttle Magazine and the participation of so many of its readers.
For the third consecutive year, the “Run with the Wolves” has been Wolf Haven’s largest fund-raising event. This year’s September 13th event was the best attended yet with almost 600 riders! While lady luck supplied the most fabulous weather in event history, the success of this year’s run must be attributed to the many sponsors that contributed to this event.
Thanks go first and foremost to Quick Throttle, for keeping the ride fresh with yet another new and scenic route, extensive advertising and endless advice and encouragement.
We’d also like to thank the following: Little Creek Casino as the gracious hosts of the run starting point. Kamilche Trading Post for providing breakfast for hundreds of riders. The Rusty Tractor in Elma, for acting as the second stop, supplying prizes for the raffle and convincing wait staff to act as temporary poker “dealers”. The Lucky Eagle Casino, for hosting the third stop. The Junction Bar and Grill (final stop) owners, Rex and Lynne Wolfe, for donating their time, bringing in extra staff and providing the BBQ for hundreds of hungry riders, Wolf Haven staff & ride volunteers. The Fabulous Johnsons for playing hours of top notch classic rock in the hot sun.
Special thanks to Little Creek Casino, Lucky Eagle Casino, Kamilche Trading Post, The Rusty Tractor and Northwest Harley Davidson for their cash donations to support our cause and this fundraising event. Many other sponsors contributed to our success including Jack Daniels, who provided lots of swag, Wired Energy Drink who provided free cold beverages at several of our stops, Kickstart Espresso, Cruising Goods, Storybook Ink, and The Sitting Duck.
The record breaking profits from this event will help us further the mission of Wolf Haven. Founded in 1982, the primary portion of our mission is to provide a home for captive-born wolves that become displaced from their former homes.
In the past 26 years we have housed well over 100 wolves. As we have expanded, we have increased our mission to include education to a broad range of groups regarding wolves, the role of carnivores in nature and the value of all wildlife. We also have come to play an important role in wild wolf conservation in the U.S., particularly with our involvement in the Mexican gray wolf and red wolf recovery programs. Breeding these critically endangered animals for release into their former habitats goes a long way toward fulfilling our mission of “Working for wolf conservation”.
As a community based non-profit, Wolf Haven relies upon donations and event income as well as sponsorships to help fund the cost of taking care of our displaced wolves. When you and your readers support us, you make wolves and Wolf Haven International an important priority in our community. We are proud to be selected to be one of the non-profits you have chosen to support.
Thank you again for all you have done for wolf conservation and education through your loyal support of the Run with the Wolves.
