Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary

By Sam Wilson

It was finally time to go to Milwaukee. It was 105th time! I really didn’t know what to expect. Not knowing what was going to happen to me, I started driving north to Milwaukee. If I got lost, I could just follow the bikes. The HOG 25th rocked on Thursday. I listened to Billy Bob Thorton, Sugarland and Kid Rock. Friday, I visited Suburban H-D before rolling down to the lakefront for the party.

The weather was perfect! Lots of great people, great food, great music and great beer. Every night, H-D sponsored street parties running late into the night. Additionally, dealers hosted mini rallies featuring bands, vendors, food and drinks. If I remember correctly, I made it to every dealer in Milwaukee. Saturday was parade day. Quite the exhibition and well worth the wait to watch all the bikes roll through downtown Milwaukee. Sunday was like the morning after house parties in college, very quiet and lots of victims from the night before.

Everything was deserted. I got back to Chicago late Sunday and heard bikes rolling through the rest of the week. We all shared a great event. I look forward to the 110th.
