Cody ABATE Toy Run

Story & Photos by Fly

In Wyoming a toy run usually means cold and nasty weather. This year the weather cooperated with us and let us have a nice day.

Cody A.B.A.T.E. has been holding a toy run since the late 1980’s. No one seems to remember what year it started, I guess that’s what happens when we get older.

About 30 riders and their passengers gathered in Cody to make the 50 mile ride to Lovell to start the run, adding more riders as we made the trip thru Powell and slowing down thru Byron. Bryon has to the worst speed trap in the state. Be careful if you are ever up that way. We cruised thru unscathed, everyone minding their speed. Riding into Lovell where we gathered at the 4 Corners Bar, eating some great food and catching up with only friends.

At noon, with 50 to 55 bikes we took off and made our way back to Powell, stopping at the K Bar and then back into Cody to Cody Custom Cycle. Mountains of toys were left in each town, and over $4,000.00 was raised that will buy gift cards for the older kids.

All in all a great day, which was made better that morning when my friend Ray offered me his new 110 inch Cross Bones to ride on the run. How could I refuse that offer? A smile was on my face all day, as I’m sure that a lot of kids will have a smile on their face on Christmas because of us.
